So the recommended RAM size for the machine is 8 GB.ĬPU: SQL Server needs 2-4 cores CPU (4 cores for the case of frequent generation of reports). If Acronis Management Server reports are often generated, add 4 GB of memory. 1 GB of memory is required for the operating system. RAM: SQL Server needs at least 2 GB of memory for managing Acronis Management Server SQL databases (on the condition that there are no other databases). SQL Server logs and databases should be placed on different disks for better performance. To prevent the logs from occupying too much disk space, use Simple Recovery Model or perform regular database backups with log truncation. HDD: Acronis Management Server SQL databases take about 20 GB of disk space, but SQL Server log growth should be monitored. For information about limiting SQL Server memory usage refer to MSDN: Server Memory Options. If Acronis Management Server and SQL Server are on the same machine, limit SQL Server memory usage to keep enough memory for Acronis Management Server and Acronis Management Console (see the next section for the exact values). If its memory usage is not limited, it will allocate most of the server memory. In large environments with 200 machines and more, keep Acronis Management Server and its SQL Server on different machines. The DML database is managed by Acronis Management Server itself and stored on the same machine. The SQL databases are managed by a single instance of Microsoft SQL Server Express (installed by default) or by Microsoft SQL Server (preferred in large environments with 200 machines and more). Acronis Management Server databasesĪcronis Management Server stores its data in several Microsoft SQL databases and one DML database. This recommendation is caused by the high amount of item resolution requests appeared when there are a lot of machines in a single backup plan. Up to 200 machines per backup plan is OK.
It is not recommended to include all of the machines in a single backup plan. Acronis Professionals will analyze your environment and provide you with ad hoc recommendations. (!) If your environment is 1000+ machines, please contact Acronis Support with a reference to this article. Recommendations in this article target deployment of Acronis Backup in environments of 200 to 1000 machines.
